Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

The video game market has its ups and downs depending on the game system you buy. The Xbox 360 was hyped up and then once you had it everything went down, and because of that it is between a cash cow and dog. Xbox 1 is a high cash cow because they are bringing new things to the table.  The hype for the play station 4 is good and is getting promoted but we don't know how well it is because it hasn't come out yet so it is a question mark. The Wii is a cash cow because people are still using it but no one is really likely to buy them anymore with all these new systems coming out. PC games are still a hit though because people are use to using their computer to game and they don’t always have to go out to the store and buy games you can just download them from home. “The average Xbox player spends 8.1 hours a week conquering games, according to market researcher NPD Funworld. The average PlayStation 2 gamer plays 7.9 hours a week, and the average GameCube player spends 7.1 hours a week with the console.”- Chicago Tribune. “Activision Blizzard Inc. and a group of investors led by its top executives are buying most of Vivendi's stake in the world's largest video game publisher in an $8.2-billion transaction.”- Los Angeles Times
